Do pull quotes count against the overall word count? I wanted to add a quote that I liked.
I think anything that plays into the story itself, like pull quotes, poems, lyrics, etc., would be a part of the word count. But if you're introducing the story first before telling it and use a pull quote, then none of that would count toward the total.
I really like this idea! Makes me wish I wrote more speculative fiction... :-)
